24Fashion TV had a chance to sit down for an interview with a celebrity couture designer, Diana Putri, she is known for dressing celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood, Carmen Electra, Camila Cabello, Janet Jackson and many others.
24Fashion TV: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a fashion designer?
I was a young mother who had a passion for fashion. Every time I went to a store, however, nothing fully satisfies me. I started making my own pieces, pieces that inspire me and made me felt confident and truly myself. It became a word of mouth and next thing you know, I honed my skills and really studied fashion through learning (I never went to school for it). Im beyond lucky to be able to do what I love for a living.

What is your favorite part about being a designer?
Being able to make the woman I dress feel beautiful, confident, and powerful. The best versions of themselves
Where do you usually find creative inspiration for your new collection?
Im heavily inspired by Indonesian culture, women empowerment, and nature. I think balancing my inspiration with wearability, anatomy, and my target market are key to creating my pieces.

What is fashion to you?
Fashion is truly a form of expression. You can tell a lot about someone through the way they dress, I want the women I dress to always glow and radiate positive and confident energy when they wear Diana Couture.
Why did you specifically choose Couture Fashion?
Personally, couture to me, in my opinion, is the highest form of fashionable art. Each piece is truly different and requires hours of craftsmanship. It is an honor to be able to do couture.

How is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?
I feel like now, not only that I am more experienced and have honed my skills more, but I am more open to different ideas and innovations into creating. I feel more limitless and confident these days.
What role do you think social media plays in fashion today?
It plays such a big role. Fashion (especially couture fashion) used to be so much more exclusive and inaccessible, now I feel like I have a bigger audience, target market, and ability to shine through social media.

How was your brand affected by the Covid-19 lockdown?
A big clientele of mine, apart from Hollywood A-listers (the likes of Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Janet Jackson, Camila Cabello, Princess Kristine de Bagration l-Mukhrani of Georgia, Paris Hilton, Carrie Underwood, Toni Braxton, etc) are socialites and weddings in Indonesia. Obviously a lot of these events were cancelled or postponed, and due to that my couture work was held for a bit. However, I was beyond blessed to have the opportunity to create couture face masks and face shields (as seen on Lady Gaga).
What do you think about sustainable fashion? Should fashion be more sustainable?
Absolutely, in this age where we create so much waste and pollution, I think we should truly rethink the way we buy fashion. Thats why, to Diana Couture, quality is always important. I want my clients to feel like theyre wearing a piece of art, one they can cherish for the rest of their lives, instead of becoming waste.
How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?
Powerful and Elegant at the same time.
What comes next for Diana M Putri?
Thats a secret for now, but I want to make sure that no matter what, Diana Couture always stands for women empowerment, gaining inspiration from culture and making it modern, and mostly, a brand thats kind and inclusive for all.
